Reginald E. "Reggie" Hall of Windham died November 29, 2016 at Gosnell House after a long illness.

He was born in Portland on June 14, 1929 the son of Everard Eugene and Wilma Frank Hall. He attended Westbrook schools graduating from Westbrook High School class of 1947 where he was a standout baseball player and was a draft pick with the Philadelphia Phillies. He decided to attend University of Maine Orono and graduated with the class of 1951. He attended Employers Liability Insurance School from 1956 to 1957, and Dale Carnegie School 1963 to...

Reginald E. "Reggie" Hall of Windham died November 29, 2016 at Gosnell House after a long illness.

He was born in Portland on June 14, 1929 the son of Everard Eugene and Wilma Frank Hall. He attended Westbrook schools graduating from Westbrook High School class of 1947 where he was a standout baseball player and was a draft pick with the Philadelphia Phillies. He decided to attend University of Maine Orono and graduated with the class of 1951. He attended Employers Liability Insurance School from 1956 to 1957, and Dale Carnegie School 1963 to 1964. He married the love of his life the former Pauline Bragg on July 7, 1951.

Reggie began his long career in the insurance industry beginning with Maine Bonding and Casualty from 1951 to 1956, and was a Fire Insurance Manager with Morse Payson & Noyes from 1956 to 1958. He was the co-owner of Blake, Hall & Sprague Insurance Co. that was formed in 1962, and served as Treasurer until 1964, and later served as Vice President of the company until he retired in 1994. He and his wife enjoyed spending time at their winter home on Marco Island.

Reggie was an outstanding athlete. He coached Little League in Portland, South Portland and Cape Elizabeth. In 1960, he was awarded the Kenneth C. Sills Award for Coaching Excellence, and in 1961 was recognized as Manager of the Year. He was inducted into the Maine Baseball Hall of Fame in 1998.

In 1964, Reggie was nominated as an Outstanding Young Men of America where he was recognized for his achievement in the Insurance Industry and community involvement. He served as President of the Professional Insurance Society from 1963 to 1964; Republican Club, Portland Lions Club, South Portland Kiwanis Club, Past President of Portland Little League in 1954, VP Cape Elizabeth Little League 1963-1964, Portland Jaycees 1952-1953, So. Portland Jaycees from 1959-1964, member of Phi Mu Delta Fraternity 1948-1964, Masons Lodge from 1948-1964, District Director Little League Baseball in 1962, served as Chairman Christian Enlist Program 1962-1063, Chairman of Portland YMCA Basketball Committee, 1963-1964, Pine Tree Field Club 1951-1964, member of the Insurance Agents Association of Maine 1956-1964 and Independent Insurance Agents Association of Maine 1956-1964, and Independent Insurance Agents of Cumberland County from 1956-1964 serving as President 1963-1964.

He also enjoyed baseball, bowling, tennis, playing cribbage with his buddies, and spending time at the family cottage on Sebago Lake, and snowmobiling at the chalet in Rangeley.

Besides his wife of 64 years, Pauline (Bragg) Hall of Windham, he leaves 2 Sons; James Edward Hall and his wife Miyo of Forest Knolls, CA, John Lawrence Hall of South Portland, Daughter; Sally Hall Barker and her husband Richard of Cape Elizabeth, a Sister, Beverley Legere, of South Portland, two grandchildren; Thomas Hall Barker of South Portland and Ashley Pauline Barker of Standish and her fiancé Scott Walker.

The Family would like to thank the staff and care givers at Fallbrook Woods for the care and compassion that was extended to Reggie, and especially to Jackie Merrill with whom he shared a special bond.

A time of visitation will be held Friday, December 2nd from 4 to 7 PM at Jones, Rich & Hutchins Funeral Home, 199 Woodford St, where a Celebration of Life for Reggie will be held Saturday December 3rd at 1:30PM at the funeral home.

A reception and further celebration will be held from 3-5 PM at the Saltwater Grille, 231 Front St. South Portland, Maine.

Interment will be private.
