Marjorie E. Dolloff, age 94, went home to be with her Lord and Saviour on Friday, November 25, 2016 at the Maine Veterans' Home in Scarborough, Maine surrounded by her loving family.
Marjorie was born in Milbridge, Maine on November 8, 1922 to William R. Brown and Helen V. (Shea) Brown of Milbridge.
As a child she enjoyed many aspects of living on a farm. She routinely picked and sold blueberries door to door to financially help her family.
After graduating from Milbridge High School she enlisted in the Army of the United States, just 25 days before the Normandy Invasion in June of 1944. During WW II, taking a train across the country for several days, she arrived in California where, as a Corporal, she served as a Statistical Control Officer. A portrait of herself, taken during this time with U.S. Army General Dwight D. Eisenhower, was a prized possession. She returned to Maine after her highly decorated honorable discharge.
After Marjorie graduated from Husson College in Bangor, Maine, she moved to Portland, Maine and was employed as a bookkeeper and cashier at a luxury automobile dealership.
On Sunday, August 11, 1957 she married Alfred K. Dolloff, a Cape Elizabeth High School teacher. The couple owned and operated Dolloff Apartments in Scarborough. She was an Avon Lady for 11 years, covering the Pine Point area in Scarborough. She enjoyed gardening and cooking, including the beautiful floral arrangements and preserves such as jams and jellies which she sold at her regular stand at the Portland Farmer's Market for 11 years.
Marjorie was a former member of The First Baptist Church of Portland, Maine, where she was a Sunday School Superintendent and Pioneer Girl leader for many years. Presently she was a member of The First Evangelical Free Church of Maine, in Westbrook (previously called The Payson Park Evangelical Free Church) where she was heavily involved. The focus of her life is her Lord and Saviour. Knowing that her salvation is not because of works, but a gift of grace from her Lord, she lived and breathed faithfulness knowing that her Lord loves her.
She was predeceased by her husband, Alfred K. Dolloff, of Scarborough, who passed away on January 4, 1995; her stepson, Roger M. Dolloff, of Westbrook; her brother, Haskell G. Brown, of Milbridge; and her parents, Helen V. (Shea) and William R. Brown, of Milbridge.
She is survived by her daughter, Nancy E. Hart; granddaughter, Jessica E. Hart; grandson, Jason D. Hart, and his son, Jacob E. Hart, all of New Hampshire; and also close family friends, Jeffery and Sandy Beal, of Milbridge.
The family would like to express their gratitude to the care team who assisted Marjorie over the last few years, most recently Jodi L., Cathy V., and Cathy N. Your expertise, gentle care, and guidance will be forever appreciated and remembered.

A celebration of Marjorie's life will be held on Saturday, December 10, 2016, with a time of visitation at 10am, and a memorial service at 11am at the First Evangelical Free Church of Maine, 355 Bridgton Road, Route 302, Westbrook. Burial will be private. Funeral arrangements are under the care and direction of Jones, Rich and Hutchins.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Mrs. Dolloff's honor to: Marjorie E. Dolloff Memorial Fund, at the Savings Bank of Walpole, 400 West Street, Keene, NH 03431. Attention: Laurie.

Arrangements under the direction of Jones-Rich-Hutchins Funeral Home, Portland, ME.
